You should try downloading it to the hard drive and playing it off of that (then it will only check a few places on your disk, mainly to start the game).

How do you do that? Do you have to buy the game off of xbox live, or can you download it from your disk?

No you don't have to buy anything special. Basically, MS put out a update some time ago that allows you to do this. It still requires the disc for the game to start playing (just checks a few sectors etc, to prevent piracy). Put your game in and on the My Xbox screen it'll show your game (if it auto starts the game just back out to dashboard). I'm not sure the exact buttons at this point (I'm at work) but you can probably google it or just check it out. There's a option to download to your hard drive. Now, to run it from the hard drive (after you download it to it) you have to tell it to specifically play from the hard drive etc. There's probably some articles on the net that tell you all you need to know.

COD will take up like 6-7gigs of space too.
